The Musical

Beauty and the Beast; The Lion King; Mary Poppins. They are a couple of Disney films adapted into stage musicals, and are arguably some of the best ever musicals to walk the face of earth. I said arguably. :D The Little Mermaid is such a successful film, therefore it is inevitable that it has been adapted into a Broadway musical.

After much speculation, rumours and news, the musical had a pre-Broadway run at Denver, Colorado in September 2007. Previews on Broadway soon followed and the musical finally opened on January 10 2008 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in New York, previously home to Beauty and the Beast.

The musical is directed by Francesca Zambello, and the book written by Doug Wright. Besides the original songs from the movie, Alan Menken (ILU Mr Menken!) wrote several other songs with Glenn Slater.
