The evil manta, who is so evil he even has the word as part of his name, is introduced in this episode. Ariel and Flounder (actually, only Ariel) accidentally sets free what they initially think, a poor, trapped fellow seafolk. It is only too late when they realise what they have done.
Takeovers are all that villains do, and the evil manta is not excluded. The way he chooses to go about it is pure evil genius: spreading discord and enmity among the creatures of Atlantica. Ariel is shocked to find out that Atlantica's peace-loving community is falling apart.
Ariel and Flounder come up with plans to stop the evil manta before Atlantica crumbles from within. This is my favourite episode, because it shows us the power of friendship and love. Besides, it tells us how Ariel and Flounder first met, and that is just too adorable for words.
