Ursula is plagued by a severe case of bad luck, and she blames it on a Bad Luck Creature. An attempt to get rid of the creature backfires, allowing its escape. Ironically, the Bad Luck Creature lucked out and is rescued by Ariel. In Ursula’s book, Ariel’s action means war has been waged. She will not stop hunting down the Bad Luck Creature until it is destroyed, and her good luck restored, and the ones who side the creature will have to be terminated too.
This episode wins for its witty dialogue and heartwarming storyline, and I love how Ariel never accepts something just because everyone says so. It seems her norm-challenging trait has already been firmly established, and it’s the first step to making her the first ever mermaid to walk on land.
